Accountabilities:
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 on-call support for Unix/Linux systems, quickly responding to incidents and service requests.
- Manage and resolve Unix/Linux system issues, applying security patches and performing system upgrades to ensure compliance, security, and reliability.
- Schedule, coordinate, and implement Unix/Linux system changes, following Change Management policies to minimize operational disruptions.
- Provision new Unix/Linux server builds and configurations following organizational standards and security protocols.
- Execute capacity planning and implement growth requests for storage, CPU, and memory to support evolving business needs.
- Perform system monitoring and proactively address potential issues to maintain optimal performance and system availability.
- Apply performance tuning practices and recommendations to optimize Unix/Linux system operations.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency, security, and reliability of Unix/Linux systems.
- Oversee proper delegation of accounts and privileges, adhering to security standards.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT and infrastructure teams, to support project and operational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree holder, any IT Degree related preferred
- 3–5 years of experience in Unix/Linux server administration, with expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 7 and later, and Solaris.
- Strong scripting skills (Bash-required, Python & Perl-good to have) and experience with configuration management and automation tools, specifically Ansible and YAML.
- Demonstrated experience in system upgrades, patch management, and proactive security updates on Unix/Linux systems
- Proficiency in Red Hat and Solaris operating systems, including provisioning, configuration, and server management.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware ESX and Solaris virtualization (LDOMs, Zones).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, SAN and NAS storage, and configuration management.
- Experience with system performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity planning to support high-availability
- Willing to work on a compressed workweek (3-4 days a week) with atleast 3/month onsite schedule
