Job Description

The opportunity:

  • Freight Movement Quality: Oversee all aspects of international and domestic freight movements, ensuring efficient and accurate operations procedures.
  • Cost & Rate Management: Handle rate inquiries, control operational costs, negotiate spot rates and tariffs, and review market rates periodically.
  • Operational Support: Arrange shipment bookings, provide documentation support, and prepare month-end analysis reports.
  • Customer & Vendor Relations: Develop relationships with carriers and customers, handle claims and complaints, and manage vendor selection and evaluations.
  • Team Development: Provide on-the-job training to subordinates and ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support company strategies, develop new business opportunities, and perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned by management.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook), and solid operational and leadership experience.
  • Commercial Awareness: Essential for the role, with a focus on being results-oriented and resilient.
  • Analytical & Organizational Skills: Effective time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and with clients.
  • Experience & Education: At least 5 years of experience in a multi-modal position, with hands-on experience in air and sea import/export, and a minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role. Educated to tertiary level.
  • Client Focus & Relationship Management: Strong service ethic, ability to handle difficult customers, and maintain good relationships with contractors and carriers.
