At Jacobs, our Power Solutions team is geared towards providing a more integrated approach offering end-to-end service to support our clients in energy networks, thermal generation, renewable generation and storage solutions space. We are helping our clients meet the challenges faced in countries and cities across the globe, providing innovative solutions from replacing conventional thermal power plants with renewable energy to developing demand side management strategies.

We are looking for a Senior/Primary Plant Engineer who will deliver Concept Design and Detailed Design of HV substation primary systems up to 500kV for Utility companies based on international standards.

Key Service Accountabilities

  • Produce SLDs, HV Substation and switchyard layouts and elevations, Equipment/Materials lists, clearance checks, short circuit force calculations, technical specifications.
  • Performs equipment sizing calculations for transformer, HV cable, conductor, fault level, indoor & outdoor illumination, earthing and lightning protection etc.
  • Perform vendor drawing review of substation electrical equipment & calculations.
  • Perform technical bid evaluation and produce evaluation report.
  • Site visits, assessment surveys, etc., as required.
  • Offer technical expertise in Sales and proactively participate in client engagement and business development opportunities.
  • Oversee technical assessments on various national and international projects and provide quality assurance of technical outputs.
  • Contribute to a learning environment, and support fellow engineers, with the opportunity to offer mentoring, be mentored, and take advantage of career development opportunities.

Here's what you'll need

  • Tertiary Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 8-10 years of experience, preferably with NGCP experience.
  • Experience in HV substation primary design (AIS & GIS Substation experience up to 500kV is desirable)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation, basic knowledge of Revit & Substation 3D design.
  • Preferably with hands-on experience in CDEGS and CYMCAP software.
  • Understand the critical technical aspects of projects implementation and integration for complex systems.
  • Can effectively shape the vision of the technical practice based on future-focused insights, thought leadership, and Jacobs’ goals.
  • Passionate about contributing to the field of Transmission & Distribution.
