Description
PURPOSE
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, building, modifying, troubleshooting, and remediating configurations of network infrastructure services for routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls in a fast-paced environment. They must be able to effectively understand and implement configurations within each of these four primary network service domains.
The Senior Network Engineer is also responsible for learning and thoroughly understanding internal published standards and external industry standards, and be comfortable communicating requirements to colleagues and other team members during design sessions. They must be able to produce professional diagrams and configuration scripts and be comfortable presenting them to stakeholders with varying levels of technical familiarity.
The Senior Network Engineer must always be looking for procedural and technology inefficiencies, putting together plans to address them, and communicating these issues to management. Additional responsibilities may include project planning, troubleshooting with users, equipment upgrades, new technology evaluations, and cross training with other members of the department.
Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, and weekends in addition to being the escalation point for the team’s on-call rotation.
Duties And Responsibilities
Configure, install and maintain network routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers
Report on project and operational status by gathering and organizing information
Deeply understand, design, and support routing protocols for WAN and LAN connectivity; BGP and OSPF
Troubleshoot production connectivity issues within the environment to resolution
Research new technology to determine what would best support the organization in the future
Create models to predict future network needs
Produce professional diagrams and documentation required to support environment
Act as a mentor for more junior team members
Act as a technical conduit to multiple groups in Business Technology Services, aligning the discussions across teams and translating between business and technical language as needed for the audience
Identify opportunities and cost-effective ways to implement and execute improvement initiatives in the Team Member Experience service portfolio
Serve as a thought leader for the organization
Define and document procedural guides for testing and rolling out new network services
Maintain involvement in technology news and changing trends in the industry and provide management and internal teams with updates of all information

Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a computer-related and / or management field
- 6+ years of network engineering experience in multiple networking disciplines
- Can configure LAN, WAN, VPN, SDN, MPLS, SD-WAN, Internet, Data Center, Cloud-Solutions, Route, Switch, Firewall, Load Balancer from multiple vendors
- Deep Platform Knowledge of: f5, Checkpoint, Cisco, Viptela, DNA, SDA, NSX
- 4+ years networking in the financial technology industry
