About The Role

This role reports into Atome Financial Regional Head of Legal and will support our Atome Buy Now Pay Later / Lending business in the Philippines. Your day-to-day will involve commercial contracts and legal advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working closely within the Atome Legal team and with stakeholders in Atome business line across the SEA region
  • Reviewing and negotiating merchant/partnership contracts with our Atome merchants and strategic partners
  • Reviewing and negotiating agreements with any payments-associated partners, outsourced vendors and service providers
  • Advising on establishment/M&A of new licenses
  • Working closely with the Compliance function on licensing and regulatory matters
  • Drafting any iterative changes to our template contracts necessitated by regulatory developments or new commercial or product requirements
  • Supporting initiatives relating to governance within the Group
  • Support Atome Financial Regional Head of Legal for any strategic initiatives
  • Liaising with external counsels where required
  • Staying up to date on legal developments in the Philippines and being proactive in initiating relevant action to be taken for the business
  • Providing practical and commercial advice in an efficient manner to business stakeholders
  • Prepare impact analysis impacting the organization to newly issued laws and regulations
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and maximize legal rights

Key Requirements

  • Around 8+ PQE from in-house or private practice
  • Admitted to the Philippines bar
  • Industry experience in financial services, banking, payments or fintech is a plus
  • Comfortable handling commercial contract drafting and negotiation
  • Adept at communicating with business stakeholders in easy-to-understand layman terms, and in multi-tasking between competing demands
  • Collaborative approach with internal stakeholders
  • Excited about a start-up environment and driving positive changes in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude
  • Ready to adapt to changes and broaden work scope for personal and team development
