About The Role
Product Engineer is essential in driving Dyson’s mission to deliver innovative, high-performance products to a global market. This role involves working within our Research, Design, and Development department alongside technical specialists and creative teams to ensure our products exceed expectations in quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
Product Engineers take a hands-on approach throughout the product development cycle, from initial project transfer to full-scale manufacturing. They work collaboratively with Design Engineers, Design Managers, and Senior Engineers to develop and manage product specifications and oversee Engineering Builds. Additionally, Product Engineers manage Bill of Materials (BOM), work closely with Contract Manufacturers (CM) and Joint Development Manufacturers (JDMs) to ensure seamless production alignment.

- Develop and manage structured Product Specifications to organizing all test cases ensuring they are comprehensive, traceable, and aligned with the Product Requirement Document (PRD).
- Determine verification Test Cases Requirements, issue test requests, and coordinate with validation team to monitor test progress, gather performance data, and report results systematically.
- Responsible for Engineering Build machines allocations, monitoring engineering build status and track machines distributed to various departments.
- Coordinate with CM and the JDM on machine build progress, ensuring engineering build machines meet required specifications and delivery timelines.
- Act as the primary engineering liaison with CM and the JDM partner, facilitating communication on FG technical specifications and engineering changes. Align project plans with JDM timelines to ensure streamlined development phase, including SKU-specific requirements.
- Monitor weekly SKU tracker updates to maintain adherence to time plans for product engineering deliverables.
- Manage New Product Development / Production BOM and SKU drawing throughout Project Development Phase in collaboration with CM and JDM partners, ensuring alignment with the latest design and production standards.
- Partner with the finance team to plan and track project Opex and Capex expenditures. Support the preparation of monthly cost performance reviews and LE reporting to ensure project alignment with financial targets.
- Monitor RDD project health KPI performance related to product specifications and analyse results regularly to drive improvement initiatives.
- Conduct SKU Finished Goods Initial Sample Inspection Report (ISIR) or Deviation Request (DR) for SOP Technical Variants.
- Assist cross-functional teams in addressing ad hoc engineering challenges. Provide additional engineering support for unique SKU builds, Service Assemblies, and Graded SKUs.
- Degree in Engineering or Science or demonstrate equivalent experience. Electronics, Mechanical or Product Design is preferred.
- 3+ years’ experience of managing product development.
- Candidates with experience delivering within a product development framework preferred.
- Candidates with experience of working in a regulated industry to ISO certification QMS standards are preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in SKU development and release management.
- Experience with Teamcenter, Unigraphics NX is preferred.
