Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic professional to spearhead our client’s energy business development efforts in the Philippines, with a strong focus on Mindanao. The goal is to drive sustainable and consistent project development in the region.
The ideal candidate will establish and nurture long-term relationships with key stakeholders including MinDA, DOE, ERC, NPC, NREA, electric cooperatives, and others. This role involves securing new Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and project financing opportunities.
Frequent travel to Mindanao, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), is required.
The successful candidate will possess strategic thinking skills and a proven ability to execute complex development plans.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development
- Analyze data related to power grids, distribution utilities, and contestable markets to support the deployment of Renewstable power plants in both on-grid and off-grid areas across Mindanao.
- Prepare and maintain investment and promotional presentations for internal decision-making and external engagements, including national and local conferences.
- Design and execute stakeholder engagement strategies with investors, regulators, lenders, off-takers, government bodies, local communities, and other key players throughout all phases of project development.
- Position and promote clean renewable energy solutions as competitive options for advancing hydrogen technology in Mindanao’s green energy transition.
- Collaborate with regional (APAC) and global (HQ) teams to conduct studies that fast-track project development, including grid, environmental, and socioeconomic analyses.
- Engage high-level stakeholders such as MinDA officials, legislators, local government units (LGUs), and electric cooperatives to drive project momentum.
2. Land Management, Permitting & Compliance
- Develop and implement land acquisition and land-banking strategies tailored for Renewstable projects.
- Conduct due diligence on potential project sites to ensure alignment with project requirements.
- Obtain necessary permits and licenses, and ensure compliance with local and national regulations at every stage of project development.
- Maintain an up-to-date compendium of relevant legal and regulatory requirements in the Philippine power sector.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in the energy sector, with proven expertise in renewable energy, power purchase agreements (PPAs), policy, and energy economics.
- Familiarity with key regulatory bodies such as MinDA, DOE, ERC, NPC, NREA, and DFIs/Donor Programs is essential.
- Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, with the ability to present effectively in meetings and conferences.
