What does a day in the life of a UX Writer look like?

UX Writing & Product Communication

  • Write clear, concise, and user-friendly copy for product interfaces—including navigation buttons, tooltips, modals, empty states, and error messages.
  • Collaborate closely with Designers, Product Managers, and Engineers to ensure seamless UX-text integration.
  • Maintain consistency with voice, tone, and style across the platform and user-facing content.
  • Contribute to content design system and documentation standards.

Customer Education & Enablement

  • Develop and maintain a scalable library of customer education resources: help articles, product manuals, onboarding guides, tutorials, and release notes.
  • Lead content creation for onboarding experiences and in-product guidance that supports user activation and retention.
  • Partner with Customer Experience and Marketing to proactively address common questions and knowledge gaps.
  • Translate technical product updates into clear, accessible language tailored to various user personas.

Continuous Improvement

  • Conduct content audits and user research to identify gaps, improve clarity, and increase the effectiveness of written content.
  • Analyze content performance (search queries, support tickets, user feedback) to iterate and optimize documentation and UX copy.
  • Stay current on best practices in UX writing, content design, and customer education for SaaS platforms.

What are the required qualifications for a UX Writer?

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in UX writing, technical content creation, or customer education.
  • Portfolio demonstrating effective UX writing and product documentation.
  • Strong grasp of user-centered design principles and ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Excellent grammar, editing, and storytelling skills across formats.
  • Proficiency in content tools like Notion, Figma, Google Docs, and help center platforms.
  • Experience working in agile product development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms, especially B2B or event tech.
  • Experience managing a knowledge base or documentation site.
  • Exposure to tools like Intercom, Zendesk, Loom, and analytics tools.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams across Product, Design, and Support.
  • A passion for usability, accessibility, and inclusive content practices
