The IT Data and Analytics department within the IT group serves as a critical enabler for the effective use of data platforms and AI by managing data architecture, providing scalable data and AI solutions that will empower the bank to leverage insights for strategic decision-making, customer insights, customer personalization, and risk management.
As Data Architect within the IT Data and Analytics team, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing data models, factoring in data integrity, scalability and security to support enterprise reporting, analytics and AI initiatives. Part of the role is to define data standards, manage metadata, and collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into actionable data design/s part of the over-all data solution adhering to governance policies of the bank.
Role Responsibilities:
Data Model Design
o Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models within the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform using tools like Erwin Data Modeler to support reporting, analytics and operational data extracts
o Design data structures optimized for performance, scalability and maintainability
Data Integration & Mapping
o Define and document data mappings for ETL processes and integration across multiple components of the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform (using Azure Data Factory for data movement and Azure Databricks for transformation).
Data Access & Security
o Implement and manage Unity Catalog for metadata management and access control in Azure Databricks
o Ensure compliance to the bank’s internal and external data security and privacy standards
Data Optimization & Performance Tuning
o Design and optimize data models to improve query performance, scalability, and storage efficiency of the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform
o Implement partitioning, indexing and other performance-enhancing techniques
Metadata Management
o Manage and track metadata across data models within the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform
Collaboration & Stakeholder management
o Work closely with data engineers, business analysts, and IT teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical data design and/or solution
Version Control
o Manage version control for data models and ensure changes are tracked and communicated across teams using data from the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform
o Track/oversee change management processes for data model updates and revisions
Documentation
o Create and maintain data dictionaries, ERDs, and other technical documentation to support ongoing development and upcoming developments that will utilize the bank’s Enterprise Data Platform
