Are you a detail-oriented wordsmith with a passion for cultural commentary and behavioural trends? We're looking for a motivated Copy Editor to join our APAC editorial team.

About Us

We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice operating out of London, NY, LA, and Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions.

Our work is about investigating the hidden insights in everyday life - from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals to why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing - and making them meaningful for brands. Our team is a blend of different disciplines and skills - from psychology and journalism to anthropology and behavioural economics. What unites them is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.

About The Role

As a Copy Editor, you will get the opportunity to flex your analytical muscles, supporting day-to-day production and upholding a high standard of research across our APAC hub.

This is a great role for a detail-orientated wordsmith and culture vulture. You'll be assisting the editorial team in ensuring everything we publish is error-free and in line with the Canvas8 tone of voice. The right candidate will feel confident making sense of complex ideas, know the difference between a percentage and a percentage point, be great at perfecting a narrative flow, and have a knack for spotting a problematic stat a mile away.

Day-to-Day

  • Assist the editorial team in ensuring everything we publish is error-free and in line with the Canvas8 tone of voice
  • Proofread copy to a high standard, ensuring it's free from any spelling, grammatical, or factual errors
  • Fact-check meticulously to ensure accuracy across all published content
  • Check data and ensure it meets Canvas8's rigorous requirements
  • Upload daily content and share insights with internal teams

About You

Analytical and curious

Ingrained in culture and curious about trends in human behaviour, the role will be an extension of your everyday media consumption as you proofread, fact-check, and discuss new and useful insights. Canvas8 exists to help businesses understand people. A desire to develop your analytical thinking will help you to become a better sub-editor and a valuable part of insights workshops.

High standards

As custodian of the content, you will have a commitment to producing the very highest level of editorial output and ability to maintain constant attention to detail. A flawless grasp of written English, you'll take joy in working alongside our editors to craft compelling content.

Super-organised

You can work to deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You'll have a willingness to learn new software systems and adapt to production processes. And you're happy to feed back to analysts and editors where needed.

Requirements

  • Very high standard of written English
  • 3 - 6 years of experience sub-editing or copy editing for a publication or online platform
  • Experience using CMS systems
  • Culturally aware and comfortable discussing complex ideas
  • Detail and deadline-focused - able to make smart decisions, fast
  • First-rate organisational and procedural skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Benefits

  • Hybrid working with flexible start times
  • 15 days paid holiday in addition to the usual national holidays in the Philippines
  • A month 13th bonus
  • Access to physical and mental well-being support, including two Mental Wealth days
  • Pension and private health plan
  • A personalised career development plan
  • Buddy System for support
  • Summer Fridays, seasonal benefits, and lots of staff socials
  • A friendly and welcoming team
