ABOUT THE COMPANY
Deliberate Capital is an impact investment manager and sustainable finance advisory group created to help solve critical development challenges through the conscientious and intentional deployment of capital along with the provision of value-added services. Deliberate Capital is the manager of the Meloy Fund I, LP, the first impact fund targeting investments to benefit coastal communities and ecosystems. As the Meloy Fund reached full deployment, the team has partnered with Pegasus Capital Advisors to jointly manage the Global Fund for Coral Reefs (GFCR) investment fund, marrying large-scale private equity experience with our on-the-ground knowledge and track record of investing on behalf of the coastal marine environment and local communities in the developing tropics.
ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Management Consultant to assist our portfolio company's management, operations, and financial reporting & performance. As an integral part of the investment management team, the consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring that the investment is effectively managed, and strategic objectives are met. This position provides an opportunity for a talented and driven individual to make a significant impact on the success of our portfolio company.
SCOPE OF WORK
General
• Serves as the primary liaison between the Fund and the portfolio company.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders within the investee company.
• Serve as a point of contact for any management-related issues or concerns.
Management Processes
• Collaborate with the investee’s management team to develop and implement strategies for achieving growth and profitability targets.
• Oversee the implementation of plans and ensure alignment with the Fund’s terms & conditions, and the investee’s goals and objectives.
• Review and assess the portfolio company's management risks and operating performance.
• Monitor key performance indicators and financial metrics to evaluate the portfolio company's financial health and profitability.
• Inspect the book of accounts, and analyze key financial metrics, budgets, and forecasts to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Conduct weekly meetings with the investee company to ensure compliance with agreed terms and conditions, gather and verify key account updates, and discuss critical observations with the investee’s management.
• Provide guidance and support to the investee’s management team members to optimize operations and management processes (e.g., marketing, financial reporting, etc.)
• Oversee corporate governance practices and align with the industry’s best practices.
Sales & Marketing
• Monitor and oversee the sales and marketing plan and initiatives of the portfolio company.
• Assess risks and provide recommendations on the portfolio company’s sales and marketing initiatives.
• Explore marketing avenues and alternative sales channels for the portfolio company.
• Assist in the creation or refinement of marketing materials for the portfolio company.
Finance
• Monitor sales and working capital flows vis-à-vis operations and management initiatives. Ensure working capital flows are in accordance with contractual arrangements between the portfolio company and the Fund.
• Review and monitor sales and working capital controls, financial processes, and reports in accordance with the industry’s best practices and contractual arrangements with the Fund.
• Identify potential risks and opportunities within the portfolio company's financial management and financial reporting processes.
• Develop risk mitigation plans and strategies to safeguard the company’s assets, finances, and the Fund's interests.
• Co-develop monitoring tools and risk register with the Fund in relation to the portfolio company.
Operations
• Obtain a general understanding of the investee's business operations and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Review and assess the effectiveness of the portfolio company’s operations and processes.
• Provide recommendations for improvement to the portfolio company’s existing operations and processes.
Deliverables & Reporting
• Reports directly to the Fund Team.
• Conducts site visits and report verification at the investee's place of business at least 3 days a week.
• Co-develop monitoring tools and risk assessment & register for the company. This should be accessible to the Fund’s team and will be presented on a regular basis.
• Ensure completeness and reliability of sales, working capital, and financial reports submitted to the Fund.
• Present observations, findings, and recommendations to the Fund’s investment team.
• Ensures completeness and reliability of weekly monitoring reports – operations, financials, sales & marketing.
• Coordinate with the Fund or the Fund’s other consultants for actions, incidents, reports, or observations that may have material implications.
Consultant Qualifications
The Management Consultant has a key role within our organization. This individual is responsible for ensuring that management operations are conducted according to agreed-upon plans, reports, and operational guidelines.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
• Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong understanding of business operations and management principles.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills in English, Filipino, and Bisaya (the local vernacular in Cebu).
• Based in Mandaue City or Cebu City.
Duration of Contract:
• Six (6) months, renewable every month thereafter upon notice, if needed.
