Key Responsibilities
- Accounts preparation in completion of workpapers for different types of entities
- Prepare and complete income tax returns for lodging entities including individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies and work to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly compliance obligations such as activity statements
- Prepare annual profit forecasts and estimates
- Evaluate the clients’ accounting systems and monitor client management reports for underlying business improvement issues,
- Implement tax planning decisions taken by manager, principle and/or partner. Research and conclude on basic tax issues, especially those in relation to tax return
- Under direct supervision, gather tax information from client’s system and verify financial results and analysis of income and expenditure.
- Prepare standard letters on tax matters to the client and ATO.
- Fridge Benefits Tax (FBT) – Manage FBT system
- Populate systems and calculators with relevant details from the documents.
- Under direct supervision, liaise with other departments, such as the SMSF Division, to support provision of Self-Managed Superannuation Fund Services
- Respond to client queries in an accurate and timely manner to ensure service standards are maintained at an optimal level.
- Work within the legal and operating confines of your skill and knowledge, seeking advice from Senior Accountant / Supervisor / Manager / Principals / Partner(s) on issues outside of them.
- Complete jobs within budget expectations and assist Managers / Partners with WIP/Billing
Required Qualifications / Experience
- At least 2 years’ experience in a similar environment, being Australian professional services, focusing on Accounting and Tax
- Completion of CPA
- Exposure to accounting software including but not limited to Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and Reckon
- Sound knowledge of Accounting Standards (IFRS / AASB)
- Basic knowledge of applicable corporate governance requirements
- Basic knowledge of a range of tax issues and accounting issues, including but not limited to Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Fridge Benefits Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Entity Structures, Division 7A, Accounting Methodologies, Procedures and Principles.
