The responsibilities associated with the position include:

  • Conduct environmental investigations in targeted areas/communities to identify risks and mitigation measures related to the Magat BESS (Phase 2) Project during pre-construction phase;
  • Prepare scope and fee packages, letters and documentation requirements to secure necessary permits for construction of the Magat BESS (Phase 2) Project.
  • Assist in applying, securing and reporting to national and local government regulatory agencies and authorities all project and environment-related permits, authorizations and documents needed for project compliance on permits and regulatory matters of the Magat BESS (Phase 2) Project;
  • Completes documentation of compliance and permits of the Magat BESS (Phase 2) Project within standards, laws and reporting requirements of SNAP, DOE, DOLE, DENR, LGU and other related government and regulatory agencies;
  • Establish and maintain good relations with host communities and stakeholders, in accordance with the ECC/EPRMP as well as stakeholder engagement and communication policy and strategy of the company;
  • Conduct inspection and monitoring of environment programs and procedures specific to the Magat BESS (Phase 2) Project to eliminate and prevent harm to workers, property, the environment, and the general public;
  • Work with contractors/consultants in promoting worker wellness and comfort at each project site, controlling, eliminating and preventing disease or injury;
  • Conduct socio-economic surveys and stakeholder engagement in project sites;
  • Reports progress of permit acquisitions to senior management; and
  • Perform other duties as may be required by BDP senior management.

Requirements:

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and ability to work methodically, accurately and neatly;
  • Good understanding and appreciation of culture and tradition of local communities within the project sites;
  • Computer literate, proficient in word processing, spreadsheet applications and presentation tools;
  • Working knowledge of the concept and facets of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA);
  • With understanding of current laws, rules and regulations for the environmental, social development and permitting for construction;
  • Above average data gathering, planning, implementation and monitoring skills;
  • Analytical, results-oriented and adept in multi-tasking; and
  • Capable of working within a matrix organization and has the ability to influence and work collaboratively with other functional organizations of the company in order to achieve the aspired goal.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in permitting, environmental management systems and social development, preferably in the power, oil or construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations, experience with environmental assessments and evaluations and knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies, government and public sector, LGUs, local communities and senior decision makers/ shareholders of the company.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Forestry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
