As we continue to grow, we’re seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accountant and Financial Planner to support our financial operations and assist in achieving long-term goals, particularly as we expand our reach globally.
Position Overview:
The Accountant and Financial Planner, with a strong preference for those experienced in startup environments and enhancing or building accounting systems, will be responsible for managing ABSL’s financial records, reporting, tax compliance, and supporting strategic financial planning. While we currently have a system in place, the ideal candidate will work on refining and developing these systems to meet the needs of our growing organization. This role involves collaborating closely with our team to ensure smooth financial management, including setting up a subsidiary in the Philippines and providing support for our global projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping & Financial Management:
- Maintain accurate financial records, organize transactions, and categorize receipts in Pennylane.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, perform reconciliations, and monitor cash flow.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations in France and the Philippines. For France, this will be handled with support from our French accountant.
2. Financial Reporting & Forecasting:
- Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for grants and funding submissions.
- Develop a detailed financial forecast, incorporating salaries, project expenses, and new hires, including for our LONELY-EU project and upcoming grant applications.
3. Budgeting & Strategic Planning:
- Develop and monitor budgets to ensure the organization meets its financial targets.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve financial efficiency.
- Assist in long-term financial planning, particularly for employee compensation and strategic investments.
4. Subsidiary Setup & Compliance:
- Support the setup of a subsidiary in the Philippines, ensuring tax compliance and regulatory adherence.
- Provide financial guidance during the setup and help manage ongoing operations in coordination with local advisors.
5. Collaboration & Advisory:
- Work with the leadership team to align financial strategies with ABSL’s mission and growth goals.
- Provide advice on investment opportunities and financial strategies as needed (optional).
- Liaise with external accountants and stakeholders to streamline financial processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in accounting, financial planning, or a related role.
- Familiarity with financial management software. Experience in Pennylane is welcome.
- Experience with Google Sheets to organize financial data and do forecasting
- Knowledge of international tax compliance, especially for France (welcome) and the Philippines (required).
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with grant-funded projects.
- Understanding of financial operations for international organizations.
- Ability to create and manage financial forecasts.
- Familiarity with setting up subsidiaries and managing international finances.
