Our client is a leading Australian event management company with approximately 10 staff members, specializing in delivering high-quality, innovative events across various industries. We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with strong business analysis skills to join our offshore team. This role involves overseeing our project and event management operations, implementing robust processes, and effectively managing Western teams remotely.

About the Role

The Operations Manager will be responsible for developing and executing operational strategies to enhance efficiency, manage a global team, and ensure the successful delivery of events and projects. This role requires expertise in process implementation, project management, financial oversight, and cross-cultural leadership. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing operations for Western companies from an offshore location and possess strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

What you’ll do

Operational Strategy and Process Implementation

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to improve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Design, implement, and optimize internal processes across all operational areas
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure successful adoption of new processes
  • Spearhead the implementation of new processes and systems to streamline operations

Project Management and Oversight

  • Manage and optimize project management software tools to provide comprehensive visibility of all projects
  • Ensure all events are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
  • Implement and maintain project management methodologies and best practices

Team Leadership and Cross-Cultural Management

  • Lead and mentor offshore operations team while effectively managing Western-based teams remotely
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation across diverse cultural contexts
  • Manage resource allocation and workforce planning on a global scale
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide developmental feedback
  • Directly oversee and manage Account Managers, providing guidance and support

Business Analysis and Performance Optimization

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of business operations, identifying areas for improvement and growth
  • Develop data-driven insights to inform decision-making and strategy
  • Create and maintain KPIs to measure operational performance

Financial Management and Forecasting

  • Oversee budget preparation and management for all events and projects
  • Develop financial forecasts and models to support business planning
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization

Internal Collaboration and Communication

  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between offshore and Western teams
  • Organize and lead regular team meetings to ensure alignment of goals and objectives
  • Develop and maintain internal reporting structures and communication channels

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies for all operations
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in multiple jurisdictions

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a Western company of similar size (5-30 staff)
  • Proven experience leading Western teams from an offshore location
  • Strong background in business analysis with demonstrated experience in process improvement and data-driven decision making
  • Expertise in implementing and managing project management software tools for comprehensive project visibility
  • Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, and experience with data analysis tools
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
  • Demonstrated success in implementing and optimizing operational processes in a multinational context
