Project Overview:

The successful candidate will play a key role in building a mobile application that interfaces with an existing satellite communication system. The app will be built using React Native, enabling deployment across both iOS and Android. The app is aimed at improving real-time GPS tracking, weather monitoring, and data exchange. This role requires collaboration with our subcontractors and teams in different locations to integrate AWS backend services and ensure seamless functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a cross-platform mobile application using React Native.
  • Integrate the app with satellite communication devices and AWS backend services, ensuring real-time data transmission.
  • Develop features like GPS location sharing, real-time weather updates, and hazard mapping.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to create intuitive interfaces tailored for first responders.
  • Ensure the app can function offline, leveraging Wi-Fi for communication with satellite-based devices.
  • Handle deployment to both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, ensuring all platform requirements are met.
  • Ensure secure handling of data, maintaining the safety and privacy of communication between firefighters and command centers.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and app optimization for performance across multiple devices.
  • Contribute to agile sprints and product planning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • React Native: 5+ years of experience building mobile apps with React Native.
  • Mobile Deployment: 5+ years of experience deploying apps to both Google Play and the Apple App Store.
  • AWS: Experience working with AWS services, particularly for backend integration. At least 3 years of experience.
  • Firebase: 2+ years of experience. Familiarity with Firebase for mobile app backend support.
  • Security: Knowledge of mobile app security best practices, particularly in secure communication environments. At least 3 years of experience.
  • Proven experience working in agile development environments.

Preferred (Nice to Have) Skills:

  • Familiarity with GPS or GIS systems and mapping applications.
  • Experience working with satellite communication technologies.
  • Knowledge of emergency response, military, or first responder systems.
  • UI/UX Collaboration

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, with flexibility to collaborate across time zones (preferably with some overlap in US Mountain Time) with early morning, mid, or night shift options.

Work Setup:

  • Remote, with collaboration across different locations (US, North Carolina, etc.)
