A PHP Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining web applications using the PHP programming language. They work closely with other members of the development team to design, develop, and implement software solutions that meet client requirements.
Job description for the PHP Developer position:
- Develop and maintain web applications and system/cron jobs using PHP 7 or higher
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features or update existing functionalities
- Write clean, well-designed and secure code following industry best practices
- Troubleshoot and debug issues in existing software applications
- Conduct thorough testing (whether automated or manual) of developed code to ensure high-quality deliverables
- Work closely with QC Team and End Users/Customers in providing support and guidance during testing
- Participate in code reviews to provide feedback on coding standards and improvements
- Work closely with other developers (Python, Java, etc) for smooth and effective integration of applications
- Work closely with project managers and leads to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines
- Work closely with business analysts and product team to define business requirements and tasks
- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements into applications
- Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions
- Work in an Agile environment (sprints) and participate in scrum meetings
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in PHP and web development
Requirements for the PHP Developer position (must-haves):
- Proven experience as a PHP Developer or similar role using the WAMP (Windows-Apache-MYSQL-PHP) or LAMP (Linux-Apache-MYSQL-PHP) stack
- Strong knowledge of Zend/Laminas PHP web framework
- Proficient understanding of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery, Ajax, Bootstrap, etc.
- Experience working with databases like MySQL or MSSQL - able to write and review SQL code, commands and DB design
- Familiarity with Git version control system, Git workflows and Git secrets
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration techniques(e.g., JSON/ XML parsing, SOAP, etc)
- Experience working with Azure cloud and able to navigate the Azure portal –
- Experience working with Docker, Docker Images and Docker files
- Experience resolving security issues and vulnerabilities (Checkmarx, Xray, Dependabot, Trufflehog, Wiz) – 1 to 2 years exp.
- Must be willing to provide on-call support even outside of shift as needed
- Troubleshooting and logging experience is a must
- Experience working with both Windows and Linux environments is a must
- Experience working with cross-functional teams is a must
- Experience in ticketing systems such as JIRA or ServiceNow
- Experience working in Agile environment is a must (Sprints)
- Experience in writing unit tests
